David De Gea Caught Stealing A Krispy Kreme doughnut

Mega-rich Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has been caught pinching a £1.19 ($2) doughnut. The Spaniard, 20, was quizzed by security staff after he scoffed an Original Glazed ring treat from a Krispy Kreme cabinet at a store in Altrincham, Greater Manchester. De Gea was hauled up after being captured on CCTV helping himself to the treat but escaped a penalty.

The sticky-fingered stopper, thought to be on £70,000 a week, wolfed down the doughnut in the magazine aisle. But as he headed for the exit without paying, he was tackled by security staff, one of whom spoke fluent Spanish. They took the keeper, signed from Atletico Madrid in the summer in an $30 million deal, to the store's 'stop and search' room.

They made it clear he had made a right howler by giving him a hairdryer treatment that would have made United boss Sir Alex Ferguson proud. De Gea strode into the Tesco Extra with two Spanish pals.A source said:

"They weren't very subtle. They swaggered in chatting loudly in Spanish.

"The security guards who monitor the CCTV watched two of them take a doughnut each out of the Krispy Kreme cabinet.

"Incredibly, they then appeared to try to leave without paying, or buying anything else for that matter."

The source said that when challenged and ushered into the search room, de Gea did not seem to know what was going on and "looked pretty embarrassed".

Last night a Tesco spokesman said: "A customer was spoken to by our security team and the issue was resolved."

Police were not called and no further action was taken.

Away Team Chased Off The Pitch By Fans In Bosnia | Video

A nice move around the last defender and a goal from Velez's Rijad Demic in a Bosnian Cup match against fierce city rivals Zrinjski led to Demic celebrating a little too close to the hostile home Zrinjski fans. And as a result, a wave of those Zrjinjski fans hopped the fence and chased the entire Velez team off the pitch. After that, the match was abandoned.

The game is the Mostar derby, with the teams sitting on either side of Croat and Muslim community divide.

Tendulkar was Afraid of Shoaib Akhtar says Shahid Afridi

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has backed Shoiab Akhtar's claims that Sachin Tendulkar was afraid of him. While talking to Pakistani sports channel Geo Super Afridi said:

"Yes I saw Sachin's legs trembling from square leg when Shoaib Akhtar was bowling. He [Tendulkar] was also afraid of facing Saeed Ajmal during the 2011 World Cup Semi Final against Pakistan."

Shoaib Akhtar has faced criticism from Indian fans after claiming in his book " Controversially Yours" that Sachin was scared of him.

According to an excerpt from the book, Shoaib says, “"I bowled (Sachin) a particularly fast ball which he, to my amazement didn't even touch. He walked away! That was the first time I saw him walk away from me-that, too, on the slow track at Faisalabad."

Lahm Mounted By Edin Dzeko Like A Lioness In Heat | Video

Philipp Lahm made it clear in his new book that, despite the rumors, he only loves the ladies (more specifically: his wife). Well, Edin Dzeko apparently didn't read it because during Bayern's 2-0 win over Man City on Tuesday, Dzeko tried what can only be described as an attempt to mount Lahm from behind. And then he gave the German captain a pat on the backside.

30 Years Gone Today: 30 Bill Shankly Quotes

30 years ago today, Liverpool FC and the football world was stunned by the news that Bill Shankly was dead. Just seven years after relinquishing his post as manager and at only 68 years of age, Shankly had been admitted to Broadgreen Hospital days earlier following a heart attack and he suffered a second cardiac arrest on September 29 1981 to plunge many people on Merseyside and around the globe into mourning for the man who was the founding father of the modern Liverpool FC and an iconic footballing figure.

so to pay a wee bit of homage, we have amassed our 30 very favourite Shankley-isms – in no particular order…

1. When asked by a Liverpudlian barber if he wanted ‘anything off the top?’, Shanks replied “Yeah, Everton.”

2. “Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.”

3. “If Everton were playing down the bottom of my garden, I’d draw the curtains.”

4. “We (Scotland) absolutely annihilated England. It was a massacre. We beat them 5-4.”

5. “My idea was to build Liverpool into a bastion of invincibility. Had Napoleon had that idea he would have conquered the bloody world. I wanted Liverpool to be untouchable. My idea was to build Liverpool up and up until eventually everyone would have to submit and give in.”

6. Talking to new-signing Alec Lindsay before a game: “When you get the ball, I want you to beat a couple of men and smash the ball into the net, just the same way you used to at Bury,” Lindsay replied: “But, boss, that wasn’t me, it was Jimmy Kerr.”

Shankly then turned to his assistant Bob Paisley and said: “Christ, Bob, we’ve signed the wrong player.”

7. “A football team is like a piano. You need eight men to carry it and three who can play the damn thing.”

8. “For a player to be good enough to play for Liverpool, he must be prepared to run through a brick wall for me then come out fighting on the other side.”

9. “If you are first you are first. If you are second you are nothing.”

10. “At a football club, there’s a holy trinity – the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don’t come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques”

11. “Although I’m a Scot, I’d be proud to be called a Scouser.”

12. On Tommy Smith: “If he isn’t named Footballer of the Year this year, football should be stopped and the men who picked any other player should be sent to the Kremlin.”

13. “We murdered them 0-0.”

14. “Chairman Mao has never seen a greater show of red strength.”

15. “If you can’t make decisions in life, you’re a bloody menace. You’d be better becoming an MP!”

16. After beating Everton in the 1971 FA Cup semi-final: “Sickness would not have kept me away from this one. If I’d been dead, I would have had them bring the casket to the ground, prop it up in the stands and cut a hole in the lid.”

17. After Shanks reneged on signing his client, a disgruntled scout complained: “He has football in his blood,” to which Shankly replied: “You may be right, but it hasn’t reached his legs yet!”

18. On resigning: “It was the most difficult thing in the world, when I went to tell the chairman. It was like walking to the electric chair. That’s the way it felt.”

 19. After drawing 1-1 at Anfield: “The best side drew.”

20. “I was the best manager in Britain because I was never devious or cheated anyone. I’d break my wife’s legs if I played against her, but I’d never cheat her.”

21. “I’m just one of the people who stands on the Kop. They think the same as I do, and I think the same as they do. It’s a kind of marriage of people who like each other.”

22. “The trouble with referees is that they know the rules, but they do not know the game.”

23. “Football is a simple game based on the giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and of making yourself available to receive a pass. It is terribly simple.”

24. To Tommy Smith: “You son, could start a riot in a graveyard.”

25. “This city has two great teams – Liverpool and Liverpool reserves.”

26. “Of course I didn’t take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present. It was her birthday. Would I have got married in the football season? Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.”

27. After being caught out putting ‘Anfield’ as his place of residence on a Brussels Hotel’s register: “But that’s where I live!”

28. “The problem with you, son, is that all your brains are in your head.”

29.  “The socialism I believe in is everybody working for the same goal and everybody having a share in the rewards. That’s how I see football, that’s how I see life.”

30. “I’ve been a slave to football. It follows you home, it follows you everywhere, and eats into your family life. But every working man misses out on some things because of his job.”

Unconscious Player Dropped Off A Stretcher & Onto His Head Again | Video

What a poor, poor bastard!

19-year-old Olhanense striker Salvador Agra had a Sunday he’ll never forget; once he’s regained his facilities and re-watched the footage, that is.

Facing off against Uniao Leiria in the Portueguse top flight on Sunday, the young forward suffered a horrible injury when Leiria defender Edson clattered him with a knee to his temple in the 40th minute.

Scarily, Agra immediately hit the ground like a fallen stone after absorbing his head-crushing blow. It looked like a possible nightmare scenario could be on the cards, and several Leiria players tried to help the panicked situation by removing their tops and fanning the unconscious Agra.

Eventually, during a tense nine minute stoppage, the medical team brought on the stretcher as they sought to ferry Agra to hospital by ambulance. But amid all the concern and worry, the medics failed to work as a unit as they shipped Agra off the pitch.

That lead to a world class FAIL and the unfortunate teenager was horrifically dropped on his head for a second time in quick succession.

Happily, according to local reports Agra suffered NO brain and neck damage and he is expected to make a full recovery.

Midfielder Scores From Insane 50-Yard Header | Video

Has anyone ever scored a header from their own half ? Well YES, Jone Samuelsen of Odd Grenland club in the Norwegian League did just that.

Other things to not in the video: 1. Guy at 0:22 falling from the chairs and hit the railing. 2.Commentator saying Holy shit at 0:24.

Torres Red Card vs Swansea | Video

Fernando Torres was shown a direct Red Card for a tackle on Swansea's Mark Gower. The Spaniard scored in the 29th minute of the game but was sent off ten minutes later for a reckless tackle.

Chelsea were two goals up already though, thanks to goals from Torres and Ramirez.

Mike Dean is the referee - it's his first red card of the season - but I don't think he had any choice. Fernando Torres, inexplicably, flies in two-footed, both off the floor and on the run at Mark Gower. The contact was minimal but he had to go. Just as he was looking to find some form, too.

‘Sachin was scared of me’
According to reports, Shoaib Akhtar has bragged that the famous Sachin Tendulkar was scared of him and his deliveries. Accoring to an excerpt, Shoaib says, “"I bowled (Sachin) a particularly fast ball which he, to my amazement didn't even touch. He walked away! Shoaib Akhtar: Wasim Akram Tried to Ruin My Career

Controversial former Pakistani player Shoaib Akhtar made some sensational claims in his autobiography 'Controversially Yours', revealing " Wasim Akram tried to ruin his career".

Speaking exclusively to Times of India, the fastest bowler in the history of cricket, marked by a short, tempestuous career, explains his story, full of trauma, success - and controversy.
He retired from cricket following the 2011 World Cup. Why this book now?

"I am in peace post-retirement, giving all the attention I ever wanted to my old parents, but this book has not been a sudden thing. A whole year and a half went into it. What I've written is my experience, put as honestly for others to know.

This is the truth - for the world, it may be a big controversy. It saddens me to hear all kind of stories about Pakistani cricket in the world. People should know what we go through and why we are the way we are."

While Manchester City and Liverpool will always be United's biggest rivals, matches against Yorkshire club Leeds have traditionally come laced with plenty of poison.

The rivalry goes back to the 1970s when Don Revie's Leeds established themselves as a major force in English football and neither set of supporters has much regard for the other.

Michele Bachmann: Libya Is In Africa Video

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) said something unintentionally brilliant during the Republican presidential debate in Las Vegas Tuesday night, saying, in essence, that Libya was not in the continent of Africa.

"Now with the president, he put us in Libya," Bachmann said in the debate broadcast on CNN. "He is now putting us in Africa. We already were stretched too thin, and he put our special operations forces in Africa."

Libya, of course, is in Africa.

Mayweather Fights Larry Merchant | Video Post Match Interview

As he always does after big fights, Merchant stepped into the ring after Mayweather beat Ortiz and began to pepper Mayweather with tough questions. But these questions were tougher than most because the circumstances were unprecedented: Mayweather had just knocked Ortiz out at a point when the referee had appeared to call time out, and the fans at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas were loudly booing Mayweather, rather than celebrating his latest victory.

As Merchant's questions heated up, Mayweather became enraged.

"HBO needs to fire you," Mayweather screamed. "You don't know s--t about boxing."

The 71-year-old Merchant replied, "I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass."

With that, Mayweather stormed off, and Merchant began to interview Ortiz, who was much more mild-mannered. But once the interview with Ortiz was over, Merchant returned to the subject of his own confrontation with Mayweather.

"I don't really think I could have kicked his ass 50 years ago, but I would have tried it," Merchant said.

Dynamo Kiev 1-1 Stoke City | Cameroon Jermoe Goal Video

Cameron Jerome made his Stoke debut and fellow deadline day recruit Wilson Palacios was also in an XI showing eight changes from Saturday's Barclays Premier League victory over Liverpool.

However despite being on the back foot for the entire first half, The Potters made the breakthrough in the second half. Ryan Shotton got forward down the right and his cross found its way to Cameron Jerome, who controlled the ball six yards out and fired the ball into the roof of the net.

But deep in injury time all of Stoke's hard work was undone when some sloppy defending cost them the win as Ognjen Vukojevic levelled.

Steven Gerrard Will Return To Action vs Brighton

Steven Gerrard will make his much anticipated return from injury when Liverpool travel south to face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carling Cup next Wednesday. Gerrard has been since March with a recurring groin injury.

After a successful surgery and rehab, Gerrard’s groin strength has now been rated as better than ever by the club’s medical staff and they have since given him the green light to return to full training.

He has been involved in training for a full week now, but has not been deemed fit enough to be thrown in at the deep end against Tottenham on Sunday. Instead he will be eased in back into action a slightly lower profile game, where he won’t be under such immense pressure to put in a performance, and can instead focus on regaining match fitness.

The soup is too hot | Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein Anecdotes " The soup is too hot ". OTTO Neugebauer, the historian of ancient mathematics, told a story about the boy Einstein that he characterises as a "legend," but that seems fairly authentic.

As he was a late talker, his parents were worried. At last, at the supper table one night, he broke his silence to say, "The soup is too hot."

Greatly relieved, his parents asked why he had never said a word before. Albert replied, "Because up to now everything was in order."

Ferguson Has Clash With Kelly Dalglish

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson had another row with Dalglish last night — but this time he faced Kenny Dalglish's daughter Kelly.

United boss Alex Ferguson was being interviewed by his old foe's daughter on ITV. Fergie became irritated when Kelly, 35, started to ask who would be in goal against Chelsea on Sunday.

He said: "I don't know why you ask these questions, you're just looking for stupid little things."

The interview started going wrong when Kelly asked if the terrific display of keeper Anders Lindegaard had put David De Gea's place in jeopardy.

Fergie snapped: "David will play on Sunday. That was the understanding we had before the game and it doesn't change. Anyway it proves we have two terrific keepers."

Ivan Perisic Splendid Volleyed Goal vs Arsenal

Borussia Dortmund's van Perisic climbed off the bench to smash in a superb late volley and rescue a deserved point for Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League Group F opener against Arsenal.

Robin van Persie looked to have earned the Gunners a precious win with a fine goal from Theo Walcott's through-ball.

But Perisic dipped a sublime 20-yard volley home to salvage a draw.

And only a fine Wojciech Szczesny save from Robert Lewandowski in injury time stopped Arsenal finishing with nothing.

If the ever popular crossbar challenge was actually a rewarded part of football matches, Real Betis would deserve a trophy after this sequence from their match against Mallorca.

It starts with Ruben Castro drilling a shot off the far post from just inside the box. The ball careened off it and right to Jorge Molina, who just had to tap it back into the empty net from point-blank range. Instead, he headed it down and it bounced up and off the crossbar, giving him another chance to put it in from even closer, but with Mallorca keeper Dudu Aouate bearing down on him, he volleyed it off the bar again and Mallorca finally cleared.
